Carnival Morris
The huge variety of English folk dance styles reflects the constantly evolving nature of tradition.
19th and 20th century revival and ‘created’ traditions have now become traditional for many participants.
Traditional processional dancing in the North West of England has developed into carnival morris, also called fluffy morris, which has evolved during the course of the 20th century and bears a superficial resemblance to American cheerleading, using pom poms and modern costumes.
