Programming

All artists and agents are welcome to contact us about performance opportunities within our established gigs programme at Cecil Sharp House

Please email us: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If artists/bands have not performed at Cecil Sharp House before, they should provide links to sound files/videos (please avoid websites that require log-ins).

The music performance programme brings our audiences folk artists from the UK and beyond, presenting a wide range of musical styles – traditional, fusion, song, instrumental, singer-songwriters – and artists at all stages of their careers. Our programming decisions are based on a range of criteria including costs, potential tickets sales, overall balance of a season’s programme and, of course, availability of dates.

We have three seasons per year – mid-September to December; late January to April; May and June, with occasional programming in July and August – programming around 40 concerts per year. We have three spaces all with flexible seating: Storrow Hall (50 seats), Trefusis Hall (100 seats), and Kennedy Hall (400 seats).

Our gigs programme is mainly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Storrow or Trefusis Hall is used on a Wednesday evenings and Kennedy Hall on Thursday evenings with occasional Saturday evenings also. Artists/bands who we believe can achieve sales in excess of 100 will be programmed into Kennedy Hall. This judgement is based on past sales at Cecil Sharp House and/or recent sales at other London venues.

We usually pay a guaranteed fee versus a share of the box office income and provide sound/lighting equipment, sound engineer, and reasonable rider.

If booked, artists cannot perform at any other venue within the M25 for the 3 months either side of their gig at Cecil Sharp House for Storrow and Trefusis Halls, and 6 months either side of their gig at Cecil Sharp House for Kennedy Hall, without prior agreement.

Our Marketing and Communications team will expect to work with artists/agents in efforts to maximise sales for all of our shows, particularly through the use of social media channels and artists’ own mailing lists.

We also hire our performance spaces for non-folk performances. If you are interested in this, please contact our Venue Hires and Events team – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
