MICRO GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL FOLK ARTISTS
Thanks to further donations, we are delighted to award a second round of Micro Grants for Professional Folk Artists who live and work in England.
Award Recipients 2022
- Christina Alden and Alex Patterson for purchase of a new mixing desk and a powered stage monitor
- Germa Adan for recording costs of a set of songs for her second album
- Lambrego for recording costs for a new music project the Migrant Song Cycle
- Finn Collinson for studio costs and costs of guest musicians for a new recording project
- Miranda Rutter to compose and record a suite of folk tunes inspired by birdsong
- Simon Roth to purchase a Tsimbl, Jewish cimbalom
- Richard O’Neill & George Hoyle for studio time to record songs and spoken word pieces
- Mike Ruff for equipment to play recordings at calling and teaching workshops

Eight grants of £500 have been offered to folk artists to support anything that will help their professional career development. This could be:
- Time to develop creative projects
- Support for the production of new albums
- Instrument purchase
- Technical equipment purchase (eg portable sound equipment
- Other training and development activities (including courses)
This list is not exhaustive
Applicants could be at any stage of their career but must be working as a professional artist in the folk arts (eg music, dance, storytelling). Applications were accepted from individuals and groups of artists. The maximum award to each successful application is £500, regardless of the number of artists involved in the application.
Grants must be used by 30 June 2022.
