Cecil Sharp House re-opening delayed

Thursday 7th of January 2021

Due to the latest government restrictions we are sorry to announce that Cecil Sharp House is once again closed to the general public. We hope to re-open again as soon as we are able to safely do so.

2021 Gigs Update

Our February gigs have been cancelled but we hope to reschedule with new dates soon. Our current programme is as follows:

  • Jamie Smith's Mabon
Thursday 1 April: after two decades Jamie Smith's Mabon are hanging up their boots. Don't miss a dazzling final performance from them.
  • Hannah James & Toby Kuhn
Thursday 8 April: a soulful and original collaboration between folk musician and dancer Hannah James and cellist Toby Kuhn.
  • Show of Hands with Michael Wood
Saturday 17th April: our limited Covid-secure capacity is already SOLD OUT.
  • Kitty Macfarlane
Thursday 29 April: the songwriter and guitarist from Somerset performs music rich with visual imagery and written with an eco-eye.
  • Oysterband
Thursday 6th May (5pm and 8pm): the international folk-rock legends return with not one but TWO live performances – each of them a full 90-minute set.
  • Lau
Thursday 13th May: the pioneering Scottish folk trio unplugged the first time in over a decade.
  • Peggy Seeger and Calum MacColl
Thursday 27th May: the charismatic and truly legendary singer, songwriter, feminist and icon is joined by her son Calum for a glorious up-close performance.
  • With more gigs to be announced – watch this space!

Book with confidence: if we have to cancel any performance, or if you are no longer able to attend the event, you will be able to claim a full refund or request a voucher towards a future purchase.

In the meantime...

Continue exploring folk with us online:

  • Saturday Folk Music Workshops and Cecil Sharp House Choir still have some places available
  • A stimulating series of Library Lectures will start online in February, and a series of online evening seminars on Folk Song in England with renowned expert Steve Roud will start on 12 January.

We hope you are all staying safe and look forward to welcoming you back to Cecil Sharp House before too long!
