Join us for this lively informal conference and practitioner development day presented by our Folk Education Network in partnership with The Folk of Gloucester museum.

11.00am - 5.00pm (with registration and networking from 10.30am)
The Folk of Gloucester, Bishop Hooper House,  99 - 103 Westgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2PG

This is a free professional development day for artists, educators, practitioners, organisers and anyone interested in folk music, dance, and related folk arts, in any setting, such as education, heritage and participation settings.

This day will focus on the vibrant folk education practice in and around Gloucestershire! Spotlighting the wonderful array of folk music, dance, storytelling and crafts education practice - expect presentations, short workshops, and opportunities for discussion with others involved in these sectors. You will learn about the speakers own practice and how they developed their work, and be invited to participate in discussion and practical activities (more soon on the activities we’ll have planned!), with opportunities for networking too. The day will be thought-provoking, informative and enjoyable, and aims to support and inspire your own practice and/give you an insight into the amazing work taking place in the region!

This event is suitable for ages 18+.

Presenters so far include: Alex Merry (Boss Morris, artist and Illustrator) will talk about folk drama and new traditions and participation, Steve Rowley who will talk about cultural heritage and how to make it accessible and relevant to today.

Deborah Gordon, Sarah Snell-Pym and Jane Springham (Gloucester Storytelling Café), Ally Goff (textile/mixed media artist and facilitator) and Sorrel Wilde (Gloucester Folk Choir and Sing Yourself In)
