Open House Festival is a London-wide festival that opens up and celebrates the city’s built environment.
Cecil Sharp House is once again joining buildings and other sites across all 33 London boroughs to be open to the public, so that Londoners can explore them for free.
Purpose built to house the English Folk Dance and Song Society, our Grade II listed building was designed by architect Henry Martineau Fletcher and includes designs by his fellow members of the Art Workers Guild of the time. Bomb damaged in 1940, the House was rebuilt and reopened in 1950, incorperating a huge mural by Ivon Hitchins, and details by Sir Anthony Caro. The House is also home to the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library.
