"This festival is reshaping the role of women within folk music, giving a platform for musicians ... whose music touches on the experience of being a woman in the modern age. It’s the beautiful tradition of folk, reframed and charged with female power."

MAAR
MAAR is the latest endeavour from Ösp Eldjárn, Valeria Pozzo, and Helga Ragnars. Two-thirds Icelandic, one-third Italian, the trio first crossed paths in London in 2011. In 2024, the trio retreated to a cabin in Iceland, where they wrote the songs that will appear on their debut EP, The Wave, due to be released in June 2026.
Rooted in acoustic instrumentation and three-part vocal harmonies, MAAR’s sound centres on the interplay of all three members’ voices, creating a dynamic identity that’s uniquely their own.
MAAR’s set centres on the interplay of their three-part vocal harmonies, woven together with acoustic instrumentation. Their lyrics – at times abstract, at times narrative – carry a sense of intimacy and honesty that draws listeners in. The performance will feature songs from The Wave alongside a selection of unreleased material, all written collaboratively by the trio.

Thank Folk For Feminism is a platform for women’s voices and to further the conversations of both folk and feminism and explore how the two intersect. It is fun and uplifting but also at its core, Thank Folk For Feminism serves to encourage the folk scene to explore intersectional feminist issues and increase the range and diversity of women’s voices within the genre.
Doors open at 7.10pm; gig starts at 7.30pm.
Presented by EFDSS.
This ticket price includes a 50p building levy.
