Song, music, storytelling and more from British Folkies of the African Diaspora, in collaboration with the Black British Folk Collective.

Following the inaugural hit event last autumn, we’re delighted to welcome the return of the Black British Folk Takeover to Cecil Sharp House. This festival-style all-dayer includes traditional folk sounds, modern British music inspired by folk traditions, workshops, live conversation and much more. Curator Angeline Morrison and friends take over the House with folk sounds, songs, and stories that shine a long overdue light on the African Diaspora's love for, and ongoing conversations with, British folk.

With one headliner yet to be announced, we're thrilled to say that joining the party will be...

Dundee singer-songwriter Andrew Baird, fiddler Hamilton Gross and ethereal singer Angeline Morrison, British-Ugandan singer-songwriter Daudi Matsiko, groundbreaking English-Jamaican carnival legend Linett Kamala (in conversation), traditional Jamaican Maypole Dance led by Linett / LIN KAM ART, a participatory folk club for everyone to get involved, banjo star Island Girl with a full band and one more very special act still to come!

Attendance for the maypole workshop will be limited due to hall capacity. Information on how to apply for a free ticket will be included in your pre-show email during the week commencing 28 September.

If you aren't able to come along, you can now grab tickets to watch online with Live To Your Living Room.

Doors open at 1.45pm; event starts at 2.15pm.

Presented by EFDSS and Black British Folk Collective

This ticket price includes a 50p building levy.
