Experience Camden Town & Cecil Sharp House – a different kind of London experience this year
We were in town for an evening at the Cecil Sharp House after a friend recommend what fun they had during their visit here. There are so many types of events that are on at the venue. We chose to go to a Folk Dance event as it’s something we’ve always wanted to do and it was the best decision we could have made.
Camden was also a place we really wanted to visit during our hotel break in London. Having this amazing venue in this location added to the allure of the experience of Cecil Sharp House.
We have to say that the staff were on hand to help us at every turn. They were more than happy to cater to our every need during the event from the second we walked through the door.
The large Kennedy Hall where the event took place was also really impressive. The wooden styling really added to the ambience.

Enjoy a bite to eat
The café is a must visit here. Whether your visit is during the day or in the evening at a gig or other event, the café is the place to come for a spot of lunch or a light bite during the interval. There is also plenty on offer to suit a variety of visitor tastes. The chefs make seasonal meals which are not only reasonably priced but offer vegetarian options too. This was perfect for us.
The bar which was open for most events (including ours) stocks its locally brewed cask ale which was just delightful. It was an added perk to an overall great visitor experience.

Experience the exhibition
Before the event started in the Kennedy Hall we took time out at the exhibition at Cecil Sharp House. The English Folk Dance and Song Society are passionate about what they do and they are at the centre and curators of the much loved arts exhibition programme that takes place here. Folk arts are the centre point for the displays at Cecil Sharp House and the team champion this field. We got a real understanding of folk music, its roots and how it helped shape it today. Concluding
This attraction is a real gem amongst the big lights in London. We loved the show we attended but this location as so much more to it than just that. The ethos for what it stands for is not only impressive but it taught us a lot about folk and the arts and how it impacts us in life. We have to not only mention the team again for the guidance and friendly attitude but the garden is a must visit too. The outdoor space is captivating and sends home the message in which Cecil Sharp House are portraying.
