This conference seeks to present the latest research in folk song in all its possible contexts and forms, and we are inviting contributions on topics associated with traditional song and performance in both historic and contemporary settings which may include (but are not limited to):
- Singers
- Collectors
- Recording technology and folk song collecting
- Song tunes and/or texts
- Analysis or evolution of songs
- Ballad studies
- Broadside ballads or other printed matter
- Contexts of performance
- Folk clubs and the contemporary scene
Papers should be 20 minutes long (+10 minutes for questions and discussion). AV facilities will be available. A1 sized poster presentations are also welcome.
We are particularly keen to encourage students and newcomers to talk about their research interests and findings.
