Autumn Season Announced

Wednesday 5th of August 2015

A vast and exciting programme is today announced for Autumn 2015 at Cecil Sharp House. Featuring some of the biggest names in folk, some auspicious commissions, and some of the brightest up-and-coming talents, the English Folk Dance and Song Society will ensure your folk fun doesn't die with the summer sun.

Highlights include:

  • Martin Simpson & Dom Flemons (Carolina Chocolate Drops) performing new material exploring the shared history of English and American folk traditions, Thursday 15 October, 7.30pm

 

  • The 80th birthday celebrations of folk heroine and EFDDS President Shirley Collins including the launch of her book By the Lines of his Hands, screenings, reading and presentations and an evening concert, Saturday 31 October, from 4pm

 

  • The launch of the new album ‘Old Adam’ from Fay Hield & the Hurricane Party, Thursday 5 November, 7.30pm

 

  • The only London performance of the new commission ‘Sweet Liberties’ featuring Martyn Joseph, Nancy Kerr, Sam Carter, and Maz O’Connor, with Patsy Reid and Nick Cooke – marking 800 years of parliamentary history, Saturday 28 November, 7.30pm
