Summer season of music ready to begin at Cecil Sharp House

Friday 1st of May 2015

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) has launched its musical line up for the summer season at England’s national folk arts centre - Cecil Sharp House in London.

Time Out readers voted Cecil Sharp House as the second best place in the capital to see live music in the 2014 London Music Awards.

Programme highlights include:

  • The only performance in England of Beyond The Marches, a new music collaboration featuring six of the finest young contemporary folk artists from Wales and England including Georgia Ruth
  • The last ever appearance by The Full English band – a highly-acclaimed folk supergroup inspired by rarely-seen material uncovered in EFDSS’ extensive online archives

Beyond the Marches

Monday 4 May, 7.30pm
Presented by six of the finest young folk musicians from Wales and England, this will be the only English performance of a joint commission by EFDSS and trac (Folk Development Wales) featuring Georgia Ruth Williams, Elan Rhys, Patrick Rimes, Lucy Ward, Archie Churchill-Moss and David Gibb. The artists will explore and celebrate the shared history and culture of the two nations and collaborate on new interpretations of traditional music, weaved together in their own inimitable style.
