Editor of English Dance & Song magazine, and compiler of the annual list, Derek Schofield said, “The Festival experience is how many people now enjoy their folk music and dance. There’s a tremendous variety in the size and style of festivals – some take place in cities and towns while others are based in villages or green-field sites. Some have well-known headline performers, while others are much more grassroots and participative. Festivals can feature a broad range of artists and musical and dance styles, while others specialise in a particular music or dance style. They take place 12 months of the years.”
There are over 180 festivals in England and Wales in the list. Additions and updates to the list can be sent to [email protected]
