Bella Hardy & Cara Luft's UK Tour

Monday 6th of October 2014

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), in collaboration with Music Prince Edward Island (MusicPEI), have been running exchange projects as part of our Artists’ Development programme since 2012, when Sam Carter first made the journey across the pond to work with Canadian singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan.

In 2013, in addition to our continuing programmes with MusicPEI, we ran an additional exchange project with Folk Music Canada, sending Folk singer and songwriter Bella Hardy overseas to write and perform with Juno award winner Cara Luft. The collaboration resulted in a number of brand new songs which the duo toured across Western Canada, culminating in a showcase appearance at Breakout West in Calgary.

This year Bella and Cara are reprising their exciting collaboration, this time with a UK tour. The tour starts on Thursday 9 October at Cecil Sharp House, travelling across the England and Scotland before concluding at the English Folk Expo in Bury. With some dates already sold out, it is highly recommend that you get your tickets sooner rather than later!

Bella and Cara are keeping a diary while out on tour, have a read here.

“The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is proud of its growing links with Canada and of the collaborative artist development opportunities we are creating.

“These two collaborations with MusicPEI and Folk Music Canada saw Dan Walsh and Bella Hardy work with significant artists in Eastern and Western Canada, create new material and embark upon successful tours and showcasing opportunities.

“We are thrilled to welcome both pairings to the UK this autumn, giving audiences an opportunity to see these one-off shows and hear the new music that has been written.”

Neil Pearson, EFDSS Artist Development Manager

To mark the start of the tour, Bella and Cara will be doing the following radio interviews:

BBC Derby, Wednesday 8 October from 1pm with Andy Potter
BBC Essex, Friday 10 October from 2pm with Tony Fisher
