Free activities taking place on Saturday 6 September will include: a free family ceilidh in the barn of Sutton House; a chance to take part a new free family show ‘Letters Through Your Door’ from BBC Folk Award nominated musician and songwriter David Gibb; and the opportunity to explore the National Trust property.
There are a limited number of free tickets for the ceilidh from 2pm to 4pm and for ‘Letters Through Your Door’ from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
During the evening, folk duo Belshazzar’s Feast will host a special evening gig from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Tickets are £12 and are available from www.musicglue.com/cecilsharphouse or 0844 888 9991.
By attending any of these events you gain FREE access to Sutton House, saving the usual entry fee.
EFDSS Programming Manager Neil Pearson said the collaboration with Sutton House followed successful events at other National Trust properties last year.
He said: "This is an opportunity for local families to explore a fascinating building in their neighbourhood as well as sample and enjoy some traditional folk arts.
"Folk music, dance and song are steeped in history as is Sutton House and it’s a chance to experience both these things for free for one day only. The performance by Belshazzars’ Feast promises to be a great end to a fun day."

About ‘Letters Through Your Door’
This is the brand new family show from the 23-year-old BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated musician and songwriter David Gibb. Packed full of catchy and toe tapping numbers, David takes an unusual look at everyday life through the medium of song, with themes ranging from the everyday to the surreal. Every performance finishes with a song writing session in which, with the help of the audience, a brand new song is written and performed!

Sutton House (2 and 4 Homerton High Street, Hackney, London, E9 6JQ) is a Tudor house surviving in the heart of a thriving East London community, looked after by the National Trust. Built in 1535 by prominent courtier of Henry VIII, Sir Ralph Sadleir, Sutton House retains much of the atmosphere of a Tudor home despite some alterations by later occupants, including a succession of merchants, Huguenot silkweavers, and squatters.
