Please send us your entry for the Youth Folk Opportunities 2023 directory – a free download hosted on the English Folk Dance and Song Society website that lists opportunities in folk music for young people. This includes creative learning events, projects, summer schools, competitions and folk bands that are open to young people (mainly for 12–18s) locally and nationally in England in 2023.
This directory is part of our commitment to signposting young musicians to further opportunities and supporting folk music activities across England.
You can view the current directory in our Youth Opportunities section.
If you would like us to include your youth folk activity in the 2023 directory, please send the following information by email to [email protected] by 18 November 2022:
- Heading
- 50 words of copy about your activity (what it is, who it's for, how people can get involved)
- A high res photograph
- A URL (or organisation email address) so people can find out more
Please:
- Use the header 'Youth Folk promo 2023' in the subject line of your email
- Indicate which region you are based in, or whether it is a national opportunity. The listings will be organised region-by-region.
- Try to avoid being date sensitive so we can use the same details each year (although we realise this is unavoidable in some cases). The document will list activities throughout 2023.
- Submit information about activities suitable for 12–18 year olds (although it doesn’t have to be exclusively for that age group)
(If you are already included in the current directory, we assume that details should appear again unchanged unless you tell us otherwise).
We also host an interactive map of youth folk music at efdss.org/youth-folk-opportunities. If your work isn't already on the map and you would like to be added, please fill in this google form questionnaire.
Thank you!
