Our Chief Executive Katy Spicer says:
'Welcome to Cecil Sharp House and a packed autumn season that sees the last days of summer melt into the “mellow fruitfulness” of autumn and end with festive fun of Christmas.
We kick off with a very special event, Indoor Festival of Folk, a day of great music presented by The Magpie Arc and featuring Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, Maddie Prior plus a host of great artists. Over the following months we present concerts by Lau, Barbara Dickson, John McCusker and many, many more. We feature two projects supported by our creative bursary and micro grant awards: Angeline Morrison launches her new album The Sorrow Songs: Folk Songs of Black British Experience, and MG Boulter presents The Clifftown Story, particularly resonant for me as the songs are inspired by my hometown of Southend-on-Sea!
Trad Nights return with three concerts including the Gilchrist Project, and for Christmas we welcome Calan, the Albion Christmas Band and a new seasonal show from the award winning Bella Hardy and Anna Massie. And don’t forget our annual Festive Gathering event.'
