'Welcome to a summer season of two halves with a spotlight on female artists and a mini international festival.
We bring you a kaleidoscope of musical styles from the incredible a cappella harmonies of Katy Rose Bennett and the Frankly Beeches, the cool folk-jazz-rock sounds of Marie Bashiru, to the gorgeous lyrical songs of Ellie Gowers and Katie Doherty and the Navigators.
We welcome back the all-female Bluegrass sensation that is Midnight Skyracer, and for the first time at Cecil Sharp House, Intarsia, a new collaboration from fiddle player Sarah Matthews and percussionist Jo May.
After two years of pandemic disruption, we are delighted to finally showcase the outcome of an exploratory music project – Perspectives on Tradition. Led by Stick in the Wheel’s Nicola Kearey and Ian Carter, this project explored traditional folk music with three leading musicians new to folk – Olugbenga, Nabihah Iqbal, and Jon1st.
Our collaboration with Queer Folk continues as they present a concert packed with great artists. And we are delighted to welcome back the multi-awarding winning Paul Sartin, in his solo show.
An international focus brings our kaleidoscopic season to a close with music from Brazil, Italy, Senegal, Guinea, and Canada courtesy of the AKA Trio (Antonio Forcione, Seckou Keita and Adriano Adewale), N’famady Kouyaté, Migrant's Song Cycle by Lambrego, and the Yves Lambert Trio.
