CALL OUT for workshops or presentations
Saturday 26 February 2022
11:00am–5:30pm at Cecil Sharp House, London
Our Folk Education Network is preparing a conference focussed on how we can involve a more diverse range of young people in folk – in and out of school – in terms of ethnic diversity, gender equality, disability, and challenging circumstances.
The day will be a lively informal conference of presentations, panel discussions and workshops, alongside the opportunity to discuss and debate issues for artists, educators, practitioners, callers, and organisers – across folk music, dance, and related folk arts.
Are you involved in leading a folk-based project by, for, or with young people (eg inclusive calling or working with disabled young musicians, or making a safe and welcoming space for young people)? We are particularly keen to programme presenters who are under 35 years of age.
We are looking for workshop leaders and presenters who are interested in leading a one-hour session (practical workshop or presentation) that addresses one or more of the conference themes and demonstrates high-quality practice.
If you would like to be considered for a session, please send an outline of your work and session proposal with clear reference to the themes. We are interested in what you do, why you do it and how you achieve it, or are working towards achieving it, if it’s a new project. You may include up to 3 photos and/or video links and any evidence of the impact your work has.
Successful applicants will be given a free place at the conference and reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
Send your proposal to [email protected] by 5pm on Friday 14th January 2022.
