The English Folk Dance and Song Society is pleased to be advertising for two positions:
Trainee Music Leader, Inclusive Folk (Freelance)
Inclusive Folk is EFDSS’ project aiming to enable more disabled young people and young adults to participate in and experience folk music. The 3-year project includes 18 fortnightly Folk Unlimited (FUN) sessions at Cecil Sharp House a year, 18 half day music making sessions a year with our partnership organisations, and 3 half-day inclusive folk festivals at Cecil Sharp House. In addition, EFDSS runs training days for tutors and teachers and creates an online inclusive folk learning resource.
Trainee Music Tutor, London Youth Folk Ensemble (Freelance)
London Youth Folk Ensemble (LYFE) was established by EFDSS in 2013 to provide a progression route for young folk musicians from across London and beyond. It is a group of 20–25 committed young musicians 11 to 19 years old (up to up to 24 year olds for deaf and disabled young people) with a passion for playing and performing folk music.
We are looking for aspiring music leaders over the age of 18 who are:
- competent and skilled musicians
- have experience of learning and playing music by ear
- interested and enthusiastic about folk and traditional music (this does not have to be English folk music)
- committed to high quality learning and participatory experiences
The closing date for both roles is Monday 4 January 2021.
We particularly welcome applicants for this role from ethnic minority backgrounds, and those who are disabled, as these are under-represented in our organisation and the wider folk music leader workforce
