Library reopening delayed again

Tuesday 1st of December 2020

The Vaughan Williams Memorial Library re-opened to the public in December 2020.

Initially we intended to be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am–4pm:

  • Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 December
  • Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December cancelled due to Tier 3 legislation

When we are able to open in the New Year, we shall do so regularly every Wednesday and Thursday. But this cannot happen while Tier 3 Covid restrictions remain in effect in London.

To ensure that we follow social distancing guidelines, the number of concurrent readers will need to be limited. We will be operating a booking system: if you wish to visit, you will need to email both This email address is being protected from spambots. You can book a place for a whole day, or a half day, either 11am–1.15pm or 1.45pm–4pm. We ask that you book no later than 5pm on the day before your visit.

If you wish to visit briefly to pick up or drop off a book, you will not need to book a time slot, but please let us know when you intend to do this so it can be arranged.

Cecil Sharp House is a Covid-secure venue.

Our online archives continue to be accessible online and free to all.
