It focusses on ensuring that EFDSS is delivering activities that best meet its aims and objectives to preserve, promote and develop the English folk arts, primarily but not exclusively, music, song and dance; that the organisation is financially stable and abides by all necessary legal obligations; and that it operates best practice in all aspects of its work.
The Board meet four times a year in London, usually at Cecil Sharp House, in March, June, September and November. The meetings are held on a Saturday with the exception of the June meeting which is held on a weekday. This is a voluntary role for which expenses (eg travel) are paid.
Criteria
- Interest and engagement in the folk arts (from any cultural tradition) and/or wider arts.
- Ability to attend the meetings as described above, applicants are expected to attend regularly.
