Kings of the South Seas

CD Competition: Kings of the South Seas

Ben Nicholls is probably best known as the virtuosic double bassist from the Seth Lakeman band. However, he is also an excellent concertina player with a powerful singing voice, skills which came to the fore when he joined the line-up for The Full English band, taking the lead on a fantastic rendition of the nautical ballad Rounding the Horn.

His new project, Kings of the South Seas, explores ballads associated with the late 18th and early 19th century British whaling expeditions, performed by a new collective of musicians with Ben at the helm. The combination of concertina, electric guitar and drums paired with these tales of such a brutal point in history results in a truly unique and gripping work of music.

To celebrate the release of this exciting project, we’re offering you the chance to win a copy of the new cd ahead of the launch show at Cecil Sharp House on Tuesday 18 November. Simply answer the question below and fill in your contact details to enter the competition.
