The English Folk Dance and Song Society has released a new resource which collects together 24 English folk songs contributed by EFDSS for the new Model Music Curriculum. The Model Music Curriculum is a non-statutory resource that provides a practical framework through which the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum for Music curriculum can be met. It accompanies the National Plan for Music Education and is intended for use by teachers for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
This resource includes a document to help you find the songs in our Resource Bank, along with supporting teachers’ notes and audio files.
The tables of songs – 8 each for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 – are ordered according to Year and Key Stage. Each song is listed with a short description, title of the resource that includes it, the page number featuring the song, and a link to the relevant webpage of the Resource Bank.

About the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s Resource Bank
The Resource Bank collects together hundreds of practical materials for use in formal and informal teaching and learning contexts, in schools and also in community settings. All of the materials are free and downloadable. They make imaginative use of folk song, music, dance, drama and other arts.
The resources have developed out of innovative projects and initiatives run by the English Dance and Song Society Education team over the past decade or so. You can find resources suitable for your subject or setting by filtering by Topic, Key Stage and/or Audience.
The Resource Bank was originally developed through The Full English project with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
