The Young Folk Club is run for young people, by young people.
Join in with this vibrant online events series for young folk enthusiasts and people curious about folk music, song and dance.
The Young Folk Club aims to give young people aged 14-21 the opportunity to share and experience folk music in a friendly, social environment. Occasional appearances
from guest artists give young people a chance meet professionals on the folk scene.
There are four main strands to The Young Folk Club:
- Listening Club – professional folk artists talk about their lives in music and share the music that has influenced them. (No experience of folk music necessary).
- Tunes Session – . Download the digital tunebook with a selection of popular session tunes. (Experience of playing an instrument and ability to play by ear or read notation necessary).
- Open Mic – an opportunity for young instrumentalists and singers to perform to each other – listeners and performers welcome. (No experience of folk music necessary)
- Workshops - one-off specialist workshops with folk practitioners focussing on a specific folk art such as playing, dancing, singing, storytelling and seasonal themes. (Experience of folk music, song and dance may be necessary).
The Young Folk Club is presented by EFDSS Youth Forum.
