The English Folk Dance and Song Society is an Arts Award Centre and Supporter
What is Arts Award?
Arts Award’s unique qualifications support young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. The programme develops creativity, leadership and communication skills and embraces all interests and backgrounds. Through Arts Award young people learn to work independently, helping them to prepare for further education and employment.

Who can take part?
Arts Award is divided into 5 separate awards; Discover and Explore which can be completed by any young person up to the age of 25, and Bronze, Silver and Gold for young people aged 11-25. Our Arts Award Advisors will be able to help you choose the award most suited to you.
How do we support Arts Award?
At the English Folk Dance and Song Society we are committed to offering opportunities for young people to develop their skills and experience: from attending our courses, events and concerts, to joining our Youth Forum, work experience or volunteering. We have an Arts Award advisor who can assist you to complete Discover, Explore, Bronze and Silver Arts Awards and support you with aspects of Gold Arts Award.

Find out more about folk
We work with lots of amazing folk artists. We also have the fantastic Vaughan Williams Memorial Library and Archive, which is full of information about folk music and its social and historical context. We can direct and support anyone who wishes to extend their knowledge about folk music, song and dance as part of their Arts Award.
