Wrote to Feakins sending him cheque for my circulars — also paid Ditson’s a[ccount] to date. Wrote up & revised my books till 11.30 when we went into Asheville. Maud paid her last and a very short visit to the dentist and we did some mild shopping together. After tea worked at my books again and then went out for a while, Maud and I amusing ourselves by taking each other’s photographs. She was very anxious to get some pictures of her new serge dress chiefly I think to impress and crow over Helen! Then began the weary work of packing again for the thousandth time I suppose. After dinner had a long talk with Seeley the proprietor about my Appalachian book in which he assumes a great interest. Longhurst played 3 more of the Schirmer tunes on the organ, Rejected Lover, Dear Companion and Riddle Song. The last two sounded very well indeed, but the first one he spoiled by taking it too fast. We feel rather sad that this is our last night here and almost wish we had decided to stay here longer. After all it is very little if at all more expensive than the Algonquin.Location
