At the heart of English folk

The Full English project draws together, for the first time, material from a range of libraries and archives up and down the country.

As well as collections from our own holdings at the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (Lucy Broadwood, Clive Carey, Maud Karpeles, Ella Leather, Harry Albino, Frank Sidgwick, Cecil Sharp, Percy Grainger and Ralph Vaughan Williams), The Full English draws on The British Library (Ralph Vaughan Williams and Percy Grainger), Clare College, Cambridge (the fair copy Cecil Sharp), The Mitchell Library in Glasgow (Frank Kidson), the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre (Alfred Williams), The Grainger Museum, University of Melbourne (Percy Grainger), and The Folklore Society (Thomas Fairman Ordish). In some cases, one person's papers are at several sites - five repositories hold Percy Grainger material, for example - and bringing them back together in virtual form is a particularly important for researchers and scholars with limited chance of travelling to these various outposts.
