Saturday 10 March 2018 will see folk dance practitioners gather together at Cecil Sharp House in London, taking a step back to consider and explore the world of English Social Folk Dance.
We are delighted to announce Emily Askew as Leader of the London Youth Folk Ensemble 2017/18, joined by Ruairi Glasheen.
Arts and music supremo Alan Davey CBE, currently Controller of BBC Radio 3 and previously Chief Executive of the Arts Council, has taken up a voluntary three-year post on the board of trustees at the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), the national development agency for the folk arts.
In September we will be welcoming new tutors Andy Richards (morris) and Mike Ruff (English country dancing) to lead our popular weekly Morris Dancing and English Country Dancing evening classes for adults.
We’re so proud of everything our National Youth Folk Ensemble has achieved so far - under the guidance of Artistic Director Sam Sweeney, our first cohort have been busy all year rehearsing and meeting with a wonderful range of guest tutors. They've even supported Leveret at The Met in Bury!
