Next week we put the final stitch in the Yan Tan Tethera season of performances, events and workshops - curated by David Littler - with Spin-Cycle: a sonic journey into the world of spin.
For the last five months, Cecil Sharp House has been beautifully adorned by an array of textile-related installations, paintings and more, from copies of industrial ballads on the walls, a woolen installation in the stairwell, to the mannequin adorned in tradition folk costume in the foyer. The project has gone beyond our walls and weaved its way into Camden, textile song chairs popping up in shops, community centres and many more locations.
Marking the closing of the exhibition on Thursday 25 September, David Littler and his sampler-cultureclash will be creating an innovative multimedia show. With the help of a range of guests and a selection of textile and sampling machines, beatboxers, textile artists, Gaelic and English traditional songs, weaving a unique sonic world to celebrate all things textile.
