At the heart of English folk
Sidmouth Folk Week is 60

English Folk Dance and Song Society at Sidmouth Folk Week, 1 to 8 August

Sidmouth Folk Week is marking a glorious 60 years since it began in 1955 this year. The week-long celebration of all things folk includes hundreds of different events at venues across the Devon seaside town.

Originally organised by the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), we are renewing our early-years involvement with a series of lunchtime ‘EFDSS Presents Folk Rising Plus’ events in the Bedford Hotel.

Folk Rising is our national showcase platform for a new generation of folk music artists and we are delighted that we will be able to introduce so much up and coming folk talent to the Sidmouth audience.

EFDSS guests will include BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees Josienne Clark & Ben Walker; The Will Pound Band; The Dovetail Trio (Jamie Roberts, Rosie Hood and Matt Quinn); Yorkshire-based duo, David Gibb & Elly Lucas; Newcastle-based The Teacups; banjo player, Dan Walsh; BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners, Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin; and teenage fiddle and guitar duo, The Drystones.
