Between Tuesday 1 and Friday 4 April inclusive the lift at Cecil Sharp House will be out of service due to essential planned maintenance work. Please note that during this period there will be no step-free access to the building, or between floors, and at times there will be construction noise.
As part of The Full English project – a nationwide learning programme, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund – the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is hosting professional development courses across the country. These events will demonstrate the successful use of folk arts to enhance learning in the school curriculum from key stages 1 - 5, including work at GCSE and A Level, inspired by The Full English digital archive of manuscript materials. In an English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) commission, in association with WOMAD, English musician Martin Simpson (one of the finest acoustic finger-style and slide guitar players in the world) and American guitar and banjo player Dom Flemons (from the Grammy award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops) will work together to create brand new collaborative material rooted in English and American folk traditions.
