The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) to present morris dance workshops at Trinity Laban’s Pick up the Pace Revisited

On Saturday 22 February 2014, Trinity Laban (Deptford, South East London) will be presenting Pick up the Pace Revisited, a free one-day dance festival for young men aged 8 - 22.  The day will include dance workshops of different dance styles, site specific performances, and opportunities to meet male dance professionals.

EFDSS will contribute two workshops in contemporary morris dance to the day: one for 8 - 12 and one for 13 - 18 year olds.  These dynamic workshops will fuse the athleticism and buoyant energy of Cotswold morris with the creativity of contemporary dance, accompanied by live music.

The workshops will be led by Laurel Swift (folk dance artist and musician, EFDSS Associate Artist, director of Morris Offspring) accompanied and assisted by Ben Moss (EFDSS trainee educator, and member of Hammersmith Morris Men).

“We are delighted that in this special year, Trinity Laban have invited EFDSS to programme morris dance workshops. This is the first time they have included English folk dance in their diverse and exciting boys’ dance programme.”
Rachel Elliott, EFDSS Education Director
