Call for content: English social folk dance conference 2018

Saturday 10 March 2018 will see folk dance practitioners gather together at Cecil Sharp House in London, taking a step back to consider and explore the world of English Social Folk Dance.

Steps for Success: English Social Folk Dance Today will be a practice-sharing national event for everyone involved in, or interested in, English social folk dance. We’ll be asking the questions: ‘What helps English social folk dance to thrive? What are the barriers to success and how can they be overcome?’

This will be a lively day with participation from callers, organisers, dancers, teachers, leaders and musicians who work with country, ceilidh, Playford, contra, barn dance and other forms of social dance in clubs, schools, community centres and other settings.

We’ve launched a call for content including case study presentations, practical workshops, advice sessions and panel discussions. If you would like to offer one of the above, or have any ideas or suggestions for the conference, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
