The next action-packed practitioner development day from EFDSS' Folk Educators Group will take place on 21 November at the Birmingham Hippodrome, in partnership with DanceXchange and co-chaired by Jan Reynolds (Folk 3D) and Pam Bishop (The Traditional Arts Team).
The theme for the day is Youth and beyond! folk activity in the Midlands – focusing on youth music ensembles and youth dance in the region, opportunities for adults and community learning in music and storytelling, and discussions on transitions and progression between these areas.
The one-day event will comprise a typical lively mixture of practical workshop sessions (Border morris with John Kirkpatrick), discussion groups, and panel discussion. It provides an opportunity for practitioners to learn, network with other organisations and fellow practitioners, and develop their folk education practice.
Organisations and groups presenting at the day will include: Birmingham Youth Folk Band; Folk 3D; DanceXchange; EFDSS Dance Development programme and National Youth Folk Ensemble; Moseley Village Band; Shrewsbury Folk Festival; Stream of Sound; Traditional Arts Team; Wildfire Folk; Shropshire Youth Folk Ensemble; Young Storyteller of the Year.
