EFDSS Commission for U.Dance 2016 Welcome Event

EFDSS, in partnership with NorthWestDance and The Lowry, are delighted to have commissioned Folk Dance Remixed to create a new youth dance work for U.Dance 2016 national festival.

Young people from across the North West, have come together to work with Folk Dance Remixed, to create a short joyous outdoor work, fusing traditional folk dance traditions from the region with contemporary hip hop dance and live music! On Friday 8 July, this new piece will be performed outside the Imperial War Museum North to welcome U.Dance 2016’s nationally selected youth dance groups to Salford.

There will be a free public performance Friday 8 July, 7pm on The Lowry Plaza, Salford prior to the Friday evening performances from the National Youth Dance Company and The Lowry’s Centre for Advanced Training.

Artistic credits:
Choreography: Kerry Fletcher and Natasha Khamjami (Co-Artistic Directors, Folk Dance Remixed)
Music composition: Dogan Mehmet
Live music: Dogan Mehmet (fiddle) and Tom Swarman (beatbox)
Sound technician: Quentin Fletcher
