2015 sees the 50th Anniversary of the first publication of Marrow Bones, Frank Purslow’s collection of English Folk Songs, which quickly became one of the most significant resources for a generation of singers.
As a tribute to Frank, and to mark the anniversary, Trevor Hewett and Sheila Thackwray have put together a programme of Marrow Bones events at folk clubs and festivals during 2015.
The events will include:
- Marrow Bones Singaround – a song session giving floor singers an opportunity to perform their choice of song from the collection.
- Marrow Bones Workshop – A more detailed look at a selection of the songs, exploring different ways of performing them.
- Marrow Bones Concert
- “Marrow-Thon” – Singing all 100 of the songs in the book, in one rolling session!
The events will raise funds for "Anthony Nolan" Bone Marrow Charity.
