Ashley Hutchings and Kathryn Tickell included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to folk music

A huge congratulations to Ashley Hutchings MBE and Kathryn Tickell OBE for being recognised and honoured by the Queen for their services to folk music.

Ashley Hutchings was a founding member of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, and The Albion Band, and is a holder of the EFDSS gold badge. He has championed English folk throughout his prolific 50-year career.

Kathryn Tickell has been playing pipes since she was nine years old and received the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Musician of The Year’ title in 2013. She received the The Queen's Medal for Music in 2009 for her outstanding contribution to British music, and she has been part of numerous educational projects, including Folkestra North, which she founded.
