Folk Hop

New dance course fuses folk and hip hop

One of the best things about the arts, whatever form they may take, is that they never remain static. The re-drawing of boundaries, re-writing of rules and reinterpretation of ideas have been key to change and development throughout the ages.

It is in this spirit that EFDSS and Folk Dance Remixed are launching a brand new one-day folk dance and hip hop fusion course for 12-18 year olds. Folk Hop offers the chance to explore the two genres of dance, exploiting both their differences and similarities in a way that both defies convention and embraces tradition.

“We are really looking forward to be working with a new group of young people and introducing them to the exciting worlds of folk and hip hop and the sparks that the fusion will make!”
Kerry Fletcher, Co-Artistic Director, Folk Dance Remixed
“We’re delighted to be working with the excellent Folk Dance Remixed to offer this dynamic new course as part of our growing programme for children and young people at Cecil Sharp House.”
Rachel Elliott, Education Director, EFDSS

The course will take place on Monday 16 February at Cecil Sharp House. No previous dance experience needed – come along and try something new.
