In July we were delighted to present a strong folk dance presence at One Dance UK’s U.Dance 2018 national youth dance festival, held this year at DanceEast in Ipswich. Our associate company, Folk Dance Remixed, worked with local young dancers to create a new dance commission, Maypole Remixed, which was performed during the festival. They also visited Stowupland High School for a day of dance and delivered a hugely popular ceilidh dance workshop at the U.Dance welcome evening. This event also featured traditional East Anglian step dancing and jig dolls with Lou and Lindsay Beale and Fiona Davies.

I just wanted to say thank you for being lovely to work with, I think collectively we achieved an awful lot and your Friday night workshop will go down in DanceEast history as the one that made the walls vibrate!

Maypole Remixed was funded by Arts Council England as part of the wider #EastYouthDance programme to support U.Dance 2018 and youth dance development activity in the East of England.
