Joe Newberry & April Verch

- (Doors: 7pm)

Cecil Sharp House, London

Newberry & Verch recently released their first duo album Going Home, and their collaboration is fuelled by a shared passion for traditional music.

April Verch is a world class fiddle player, step dancer and singer from Canada’s Ottawa Valley. Surrounded by traditional music, she started step dancing at age three and playing the fiddle at age six, and has countless awards, ten albums and sixteen years of worldwide touring under her belt with her trio the April Verch Band.

Missouri-born Joe Newberry is an outstanding clawhammer banjoist, guitarist, singer and songwriter whose award-winning songs have been recorded by artists including Ricky Skaggs and the Gibson Brothers. Joe was a guest star on the 2016 Transatlantic Sessions live tour and his numerous projects include his duo with mandolin legend Mike Compton.

Blending folk, bluegrass and old time Americana, their repertoire features traditional ballads, joyful fiddle tunes and poignant original songs, with the addition of April’s spectacular step dancing!
