Cecil Sharp House hosts Morris Offspring Show
"Morris Offspring… now this is something really special… the sheer grace
and energy of these young dancers, with their stylish whites and subtle ribbons
on their shoulders is quite startling."
Colin Irwin, In Search of Albion
“Morris Offspring put the mystery back into morris!”
A contemporary inspired company of morris dancers will bring their unique show to the home of English folk arts, Cecil Sharp House in Camden, on Sunday 15 July.
Must Come Down by Morris Offspring is a performance of music, dance and storytelling featuring young musicians, dancers and singers.
The appearance at Cecil Sharp House in Regent’s Park Road will have a special resonance, as the building is the home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS).
Morris Offspring is a groundbreaking group of new generation performers who bring a fresh approach to traditional morris dancing.
Members of the company include EFDSS Associate Artists storyteller Debs Newbold, and director Laurel Swift alongside Becky Price, Gavin Davenport, Matthew Keegan-Phipps and Nancy Potts.
Katy Spicer, Chief Executive of EFDSS, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support Morris Offspring for a second year; they are an inspiring and very talented group of young dancers.
“Must Come Down promises to be an exuberant spectacle of vitality and passionate dance wrapped in a cloak of beautiful music, stunning singing and heart-stopping stories. It is the centrepiece of our Big Dance 2012 events and not to be missed. ”
