Lynden Bowen, tel: 02380 813 561 Lynden has been teaching Maypole dancing for at least fifteen years. She can work with recorded or live music; sometimes accompanying dancers herself on the accordion. She is a qualified teacher and adult education tutor. Lynden has her own Maypole and has worked with both adults and children including children with special educational needs and disabilities. Lynden's husband Clive has made several interesting home made maypoles and should you wish to discuss making a maypole he would be happy to chat to you
Diana has recently left
her post as the National Education Manager for EFDSS and is a freelance
teacher of traditional and historical dance. She is the author of
the authoritative book on maypole traditions called 'Dancing; Round
the Maypole' available from the EFDSS web shop. As a qualified teacher
she has many years of working with all ages from 5 to 85, from teachers
and PE students in colleges, working with the National Curriculum
to girl guides and wheelchair dancers. She can bring a maypole to
workshops if necessary. Diana works both with musicians or recorded
music and has a PA system with a radio microphone. She has a current
£5 million Public Liability insurance and a recent Criminal Records

She has participated in Maypole events in Staffordshire, including the Lichfield Folk Festival, and has worked extensively with young people. She is an experienced and knowledgeable teacher of Maypole traditions. Jane Pfaff Tel 020 8346 9986 Jane is a trained teacher and works with children in school, at clubs and parties, fetes and festivals and with special needs organisations. She usually works with Jeremy Monson who plays a piano accordian. Jane teaches, a variety of traditional dance forms including maypole, country, morris, sword, broom and garland dances. She is willing to travel and can sometimes bring a maypole with her. Liam Robinson tel: 01522 560 163 Liam runs The Mini Morris Company. The Mini Morris Company seeks to involve young people in all kinds of Traditional English Folk Culture. As part of his work, he is regularly asked to help schools out with maypole dancing. He regularly works on a project in Market Rasen Lincolnshire, to prepare children from all the local schools for the town's May Day celebrations. He has also worked with a number of other schools in Lincolnshire, where the maypole has always had a strong place in village celebrations. Liam provides live music and has a very energetic and fun approach in his teaching which encourages children to get involved. Stephen Rowley 01453 763181 As well as Maypole dance, Stephen can provide a wide range of exciting of folk and world music, dance and song workshops. Some of the workshops are especially effective at engaging boys in singing and dancing, including sailor's hornpipes, Morris, sword, medieval, Caribbean, shanties, folk song, and blues. Mike Ruff, tel. 01727 831917 Mike is a seasoned musician and folk animateur. He has his own Maypole and is willing to travel. Teaching Maypole dancing is a speciality. Christopher Smith tel: 01628 633051 I have lead maypole sessions in several Berkshire schools, preparing children for summer fetes and demonstrations at the Maidenhead Carnival. I also help to organise the annual 'Folk for Berkshire' days. One of the sessions involves synchronised dancing around three maypoles for 72 children!
