Arts Council Funding Heralds New Era for the English Folk Dance and Song Society

LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES
Owing to a complete overhaul of the archive spaces in Cecil Sharp House, original archive materials will only be available to researchers by appointment. This arrangement will be in place for the next six months and we shall require at least a week's notice of a proposed visit with a listing of the materials of interest. Most collections are available in microforms in the library and some are online at http://library.efdss.org/archives

Please also note that the library and archive will be closed on Saturday 2 January 2010

For over one hundred years the English Folk Dance and Song Society has worked to record, develop and promote the folk music, dance, song and traditions of our country.

With over 3,000 members and affiliated clubs and organisations, it is regarded as one of the premiere folk development and advocacy organisations in the UK.

On this site you will find information about the Society, what it is and what it does. Everyone with a love of, or an interest in, the traditional folk music, dance, song and traditions of England is elegible to become a member of the Society.

If you are not currently a member, we hope that you will join the Society to help us to continue our work of recording, developing and promoting the traditional folk arts in England.
