C# Minors
Folk dances and singing games for children, accompanied by live music!
Children aged 4 – 9 years are invited to come and dance, sing and create using traditional dance and music in the welcoming, inclusive environment of the C# Minors classes.

Summer Term 2012
Tuesday afternoons, 24 April - 3 July (no session 5 June)
4 – 5 year olds: £50 per term (£40 concs)
6 – 9 year olds: £55 per term (£45 concs)
Who's it for?
We welcome all children aged 4-9 to our two classes on Tuesday afternoons. The first class is for 4-5 year olds, and the second for 6-9 year olds. If your child enjoys movement and music, this is for them! Parents are welcome to settle their children into their initial classes.
Class content
Our weekly classes explore exercise, teamwork, musicality, rhythm and fun! Activities include:
- Catchy singing games and songs
- Lively ceilidh/barn/country dances for children
- Swirling longsword dances (not with real swords!) and amazing morris moves
- Interaction with live traditional music and folk songs
- Improvisation and artistic creativity
- A treasury of dance props, including a maypole, morris sticks, ribbons and more
- Chance to perform at family events at Cecil Sharp House
Tutor
Joanna Clare, dance artist and teacher, is experienced in many dance styles and has taught all age groups. Trained at London Contemporary Dance School, she also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Dance in Community gained at Laban, and is a qualified Montessori teacher of nursery and KS1. She has a diploma in the Orff/Schulwek method of teaching music through movement which focussed on teaching International Folk Dance. Joanna has collaborated with EFDSS since 2009, including participating in the EXCHANGE project 2009, and has been teaching C# Minors since April 2010.
