Folk dance and singing games for children!
Weekly classes and holiday projects - all accompanied by live music!
For children to come and dance, sing and create using traditional dance and music in a welcoming, inclusive environment. All sessions are accompanied by live music.

Weekly classes
Spring term: Tuesdays 22 January - 26 March (no session 19 February)
Summer term: Tuesdays 23 April - 25 June (no session 28 May)
4.30 - 5.30pm
5 – 9 year olds
Fee: £55 | £45 concessions (for the course)
Please note that our spring term is an alteration to the advertised classes in our season brochure. We will only be running one weekly class, rather than the two previously advertised.
How do I start?
Enrolments for the summer term are now open! You can enrol by sending in our enrolment form, enclosing a cheque for the course fee. If you would like to pay by card please email your enrolment form and contact Nina/Jenny (Education Administrators) on the number below to pay over phone.
Free taster sessions are available throughout the term for children who wish to try the weekly class (one session per child). Please contact the Education department at EFDSS for more information: education@efdss.org or 020 7485 2206 x 223.
Class content
Sessions are led by Joanna Clare, an experienced dance artist and teacher. Her biography is available to download at the foot of this page.
Live musical accompaniment is provided by accordionist Jeremy Monson, and occasionally other musicians.

Sessions combine physical activity, teamwork, musicality, rhythm, creativity and fun! Activities include:
- Catchy singing games and songs
- Lively ceilidh/barn/country dances for children
- Swirling longsword dances (not with real swords!)
- Traditional morris moves and clog dancing
- Interaction with live traditional music and folk songs
- Improvisation and artistic creativity
- A treasury of dance props, including a maypole, morris sticks, ribbons and more
- Chance to perform at family events at Cecil Sharp House
