The return of the popular course, taught by leading folk dance artist Kerry Fletcher.

Who it's for:
Mixed level class – absolute beginners very welcome. Experienced dancers will have the chance to write their own routine.
Course Content:
Appalachian clogging is an exciting, lively percussive style of dance from the Southern Appalachian Mountains of America, with English, Irish, Scottish, Native American and African roots. Think Riverdance and tap dance with Old Time music and African beats. Have fun dancing in groups, learning steps and routines to fabulous live music.
What to Wear:
Wear loose comfortable clothes and bring tap shoes if you have them, or hard soled, low heeled shoes. Kerry has a small collection of spare tap shoes to lend out, sizes 4 – 7.
Tutor: Kerry Fletcher
Kerry Fletcher is a traditional dancer of many styles, from waltzing to clogging. She is an experienced dance workshop leader and an accomplished performer. Currently, she co-choreographs and performs with JigJaw & Circa Compania and guests with Daughters of Elvin & Zoox. Her performance history includes: Broken Ankles, The Stepback Project and The 4K Plot. She also co-choreographed & performed with The Chase and Shaking the Tradition at Chisenhale Dance Space, London.
Most recently, her education work has been with Tapatak and TAPs (Traditional Arts Projects). With both of these organisations she provides foot percussion and English & American dance to their inter-cultural work. She is a visiting lecturer on the folk music degree course at Newcastle University and for several years she has been a tutor on the Folkworks summer schools.
As well as running her own community dance workshops, she teaches at festivals & dance clubs all over the country.
