Join our Youth Forum and get your voice heard at EFDSS and Cecil Sharp House!

Gain experience in producing and marketing youth events, meet folk artists, and attend gigs. Tell us what you think and take an active role in what happens at Cecil Sharp House.

Who is it for?

For 14-21 year olds (disabled young people up to 24 years old) who are passionate about the folk arts.

 

When and where does it take place?

The Youth Forum will meet regularly at Cecil Sharp House and at additional special events.

  • Wednesday 11 January 2017, 5-7pm - Talk with Katy Spicer, EFDSS Chief Executive and Artistic Director 
  • Wednesday 22 February 2017, 5-7pm - Meeting 
  • Wednesday 12 March 2017, 6-8pm - Youth Ceilidh
  • Wednesday 29 March 2017, 5-9.30pm - Meeting and The James Brothers gig 
  • Wednesday 3 May 2017, 5-7pm - Meeting 
  • Wednesday 7 June, 5-7pm - Meeting 
  • Sunday 9 July - The Takeover

The EFDSS Youth Forum is searching for great folk bands, ensembles and solo artists to join with the London Youth Folk Ensemble and play at The Takeover, our flagship youth-led event on Sunday 9 July 2017. If you're aged 12-19 and play folk music, we want to hear from you! Deadline for applications is 17 February.

What has the Youth Forum been up to so far?

In October 2016 Youth Forum members met duo Gilmore and Roberts and attended their gig at Cecil Sharp House. Read Lauren's interview with Gilmore & Roberts and Aaron's review of the gig. 

In November 2016 the Youth Forum organised their first Youth Ceilidh at Cecil Sharp House. Read Rowan's piece about the event.

Membership of the Youth Forum is free but places are limited.
