At the heart of English folk

Talent Development Partner Initiatives

We aim to inspire creativity and support artists across a range of talents within the English folk genre.

This year – through funding from the PRS for Music Foundation’s Talent Development Partner fund – we will fund two new initiatives – a major new music commission and creative seed funding bursaries.

Open Commission

This is a unique chance for professional artists who would like to develop a new idea or project into a commission incorporating the English folk canon, and perform it at three high profile venues in 2017 – Cecil Sharp House (London), Colston Hall (Bristol) and The Met (Bury).

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) will support the successful applicants at every stage of the commission, with advice on marketing, promotion, and day-to-day project delivery.
