What The Folk! Lectures in association with the Traditional Song Forum present Broadside Day
Where did the Oral Tradition get its Songs? Steve Roud, Roy Palmer and Steve Gardham present an informal seminar on the printed sources of traditional and popular song in Britain from the 18th to 20th Century.

Sunday 11th Mawkin:Causley The 'unconditionally mighty' (Mojo) Mawkin:Causley present their heady mix of richly melodic vocals, melodeons, electric bass and acoustic guitar as they breath youthful vigour and considerable energy into their folk-inspired music.

Saturday 17th Verity Sharp’s Apple Day Join EFDSS and BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction presenter Verity Sharp in a day of music, dancing, storytelling, crafts, games and all things appley as we celebrate Apple Day 2009. Anglo-Australian super-trio Kerr Fagan Harbron and groundbreaking English string quartet Methera team up for a virtuoso evening of music.

Thursday 22nd Ballad of Britain – The Concert The show of the book! Featuring an eclectic mix of artists and styles that highlight the inherent diversity in Britain today join us in a concert by some of the musicians that inspired the book, including folk legends Norma Waterson and Martin Carthy, Super Furry Animals lead singer Gruff Rhys, Sam Lee and the Gillie Boys, and Stephanie Hladowski.

For the best part of a decade USA based Jack Rose has distinguished himself with his solo finger-picked rambles that veer from country-blues and ragtime to raag. Thursday 12th EFDSS present Spiers & Boden
Described by The Guardian as 'the finest instrumental duo on the traditional scene' and twice winners of the BBC Radio 2 folk award for Best Duo, John Spiers and Jon Boden have made the genre of spontaneous, punky English folk very much their own stomping ground. Disabled
Access at Cecil Sharp House
Structural alterations have now been completed to provide a wheelchair
lift to the main entrance, thereby providing access to the Vaughan
Williams Memorial Library and Kennedy Hall. There are also separate
male and female toilets, designed for wheelchair access, on the ground
floor. Parking for disabled visitors has been improved and as always,
disabled visitors will be allocated priority parking spaces. Staff
are available to help in any way they can so if you need assistance
of any kind please ask on site or call 0207 485 2206 Ext 28 in advance.
